The week leading up to Easter brought my mom, Graham, and Jason (Graham’s special helper, God bless his soul!) to Richmond for a visit before we all traveled to Lynchburg for the weekend. During their visit we spent some time exploring the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens. The place is absolutely beautiful, and I’m quite ashamed to admit that in our three years of living in Richmond, we’d never visited this special landmark that draws visitors from all over!
Pictured below is the coolest tree house. Wade had a ball running all over the place. And see those rows of little white things? Those are little windmills! So cool!
And here we are inside the tree house, checking out the fish and turtles swimming in the lake below.
I managed to get one Easter-themed activity in: making cookies! (we never did get around to dyeing eggs, shame on us!) Wade helped (of course we are using this term loosely) me make them, and he even got to eat them thanks to our egg replacer! They were quite tasty indeed!
Holland tried out her new Johnny Jump Up, I’m not sure if she likes it more or if Wade likes swinging her more!
Once back in Lynchburg we visited my grandmother and also got to see my aunt who happened to also be visiting my grandmother when we arrived.
My sweet grandmother loved cuddling with Miss Holland :)
Clearly, the affection was quite mutual!
These two crazy boys decided they wanted to take a rest in grandma’s bed!
In case you hadn’t noticed, Wade thinks Graham hung the moon! He pretty much follows Graham around all day like his little shadow!
Then, on Saturday night, me and my Mr. got all fancied up to attend a wedding of one of my friends from growing up. We had a ball, and I declared that it was so very good for my soul to get dressed up, dance with my hubby, and spend time with other adults!!
So fun to spend time with Alston again—and wasn’t Martha a beautiful bride?! (I learned that her dress was from J. Crew! I adore it!!)
Of course our offspring were well cared for by their Mimi and Papa. (though the combination of our two plus Graham was slightly exhausting, right Mom?! My dad described the dynamic of Wade + Graham as “like a gang”! Ha!)
Just look at Miss Thang and her Papa!
Easter morning brought baskets of goodies for the Slippy-Dippy and Miss Thang!
I would just like to note how much it warms my heart that this little boy is still so delighted to open up a plastic egg and find pretzels inside! Bless his little heart!
Then we headed outside to see if the stars would all align and we could get a decent picture of our little family together…
What about this one? Ten points to whoever can come up with the best caption to illustrate what each of us is probably thinking…
This one’s kinda fun:
We gave Wade a stick to pacify him during the excruciating experience that is having your picture taken.
This next picture was taken right as Wade shot his stick into the air, he likes to “throw high!”
Later still, we visited with my extended family.
Holland and her cutie–pie cousin Noland enjoyed the chance to catch up!
Oh, how I love these two babies of mine. I could just eat them up in their little smocked outfits!!
Congratulations on making it through this marathon blog post!
Joy of the Resurrection to you!!
I LOVE Holland's hair in the last two pictures--so adorable! They are precious in their smocked outfits. Oh, so sweet! And, I love your dress too, you hot mama! Where did you find that? I need your help looking for something for two weddings this summer. So glad y'all had a great Easter! And let's do the garden soon! :) we love that place!
ReplyDeleteYou ARE a hot mama in that dress, Annie B.W.! I love it. Also, those smocked Easter outfits rock. And hey, this is off-topic, but will you talk to me about your diaper sprayer and how that works? We cloth diaper, and I feel it may be time to invest in a sprayer or some such thing. When you get a moment, e-mail (or better yet, call!), and tell me about all about it....
ReplyDeleteLOVE these pictures. :) LOVE those smocked clothes. I just told Jed I wasn't the only one who loves those sweet outfits....And I agree with everyone--hot dress on you!!
