A few things

IMG_3797

{He’s looking rather serious here, but that’s a fine looking man, in my opinion :) }

1.  I’m two days late, but I have to give a blog shout-out to my babies’ daddy for Father’s Day.  Philip truly is a wonderful father.  He shares such a special bond with both Wade and Holland, and gives me great joy to watch him become the father God made him to be.  Wade is crazy about his daddy—you should see the two of them play together.  And Holland is quickly becoming quite smitten with him too.  She loves to be the recipient of her daddy’s affection and will give Philip the sweetest smiles.  Happy Father’s Day, babe.

These two were just hanging out eating popcorn…

And of course I’d be remiss if I didn’t wish my own father the same.  Like Holland, I relish in the affection my dad so freely shows me.  Always one to encourage and affirm, his support means the world to me.  I’m pretty sure my dad thinks I’m far cooler than I really am, but that’s ok, I’ll take it :)  Happy Father’s Day, Dad.

2.  I need to remember several things about Wade that are awesome.

-He loves to help me unload the dishwasher (this is actually probably my least favorite household task, btw), and he’s quite good at it.  He knows not to remove the knives from the silverware holder, and he can even successfully take out the heavy glasses. (we haven’t broken anything yet!}

-On Father’s Day, he and I were in the car together alone.  He repeatedly wished me Happy Father’s Day and Happy Mother’s Day :)

-He likes to miss shots just as much as he likes to make shots when he plays basketball.  Sometimes he’ll say, “I wanna miss it.”  um, please never grow up, little boy of mine.

3.  After talking with Wade’s allergist and GI doctors, we’ve decided to remove the foods we’d since added back into his diet—dairy, potato, and green beans.  We will most likely have him re-scoped in early August.  Rather than focus on all the things Wade can’t eat, I’m going to strive to be grateful for all that he  can eat.  This list is not exhaustive, but here are some that he can have:

wheat, chicken, turkey, fish, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, coconut oil, quinoa, couscous, rice, beans, berries, peaches, pears, apples, raisins, lots of crackers and even lots of cookies!, pasta, olive oil, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, corn, plenty of chips!, sunflower seed butter, jelly, coconut ice cream, bell peppers, some cereals, rice milk, juices, grapes, mango.

So, I will choose to thank God for all of these delicious foods He has made that Wade can enjoy!  May the Lord bless Wade’s already liberal palette with an even greater ability to appreciate these foods that he can have!
